Welcome to another fantastic year of Spanish at Wilde Lake Middle School! Once again we will be immersing ourselves in the culture and
language of Spanish world. We will be refining our Communication
skills, gaining different Cultural perspectives, Comparing the Spanish
language and cultures to our own; Connecting our world language skills
to other subject areas and seeing the strong Hispanic influence within
our own Community.
This is a class where you will be encouraged to participate and experiment with the Spanish language. Part of learning a language is making mistakes and trying. Be prepared to sing, dance, act, converse, and create. Please do not be afraid to take a risk! Students will integrate the four skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking in every class. They will take an active role in their learning, choosing and creating learning opportunities with the guidance of the teacher. Students will be expected to engage in a range of activities that require higher-order thinking, creativity, and discovery as they apply the target language in real-world situations.
Loose leaf paper for taking notes. Class binder - 3 ring binder (1 1/2" - 2") with the following divider sections: o Warm-up sheets: Ejercicio Diario o Worksheets: Vocabulario/Gramática: (Vocabulary/Grammar) o Homework/Returned papers: Tarea Daily planner/Agenda to write down assignments, due dates, and deadlines.
Students in Sectionals- If you have sectionals and you miss part or all of the class you are responsible for making up the work by the next class like everyone else. See me or find a buddy who is willing to get the homework and/or tell you what the homework is, if you are unable to come and get the work. Drills need to be made up as soon as possible with the exception of oral drills. Leave a space for the missed drill and do it next class. Do not write “absent” and expect credit for it. Do not wait for longer than a week and ask to copy classmates' work. That is not fair to your classmate. Be honest! - Academic Integrity is expected of all students. Please review WLMS Academic Integrity Policy in your student handbook. Be careful and do not put yourself in a situation that could be perceived as dishonest. All homework, workbooks, quizzes, tests and projects are to be completed by you and everything must be in your own words. Any use of electronic (using a website to translate more than one word) or human translators (a classmate or native speaker) will be considered cheating and will be an automatic “0”. I will soon know your writing styles and can tell when you have used a translator. I would much rather you write a paper yourself with 20 mistakes, than submit a beautiful paper with vocabulary words and verb tenses you haven’t learned yet. And be safe! - Please do not play roughly with one another or run in class or the halls. |
